Dear MOTIVATION: In September 2025, I left my corporate job to follow my life’s purpose: becoming a famous stand-up comedian. Over the past three years, I’ve performed at open mics in D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Philadelphia, and New York. I’ve been paid a few times to perform my stand-up comedy at private events. I am not a household name (Jim Carey, Chris Rock, Michelle Wolf, Ramy Youssef, or Taylor Tomlinson), yet. I believe in my talent, even though it’s been tough, with a lot of travel and no real money to show for my commitment and purpose-driven journey. Many family and friends question why I left a good “corporate job” to chase my dream (life’s purpose) of making people laugh and becoming a world-famous comedian. What advice can you give me to sustain motivation, focus, and commitment? — THE FUNNY GUY IN MARYLAND
